Sugar Cookie Recipe

While the traditional sugar cookie recipe is a flavor most everyone knows and loves, the recipe can be altered and updated to give it a new twist.  For instance, most sugar cookie recipes require vanilla extract.  Why not substitute in almond extract for a more mellow, nuttier flavor?  Or try substituting lemon extract for a cookies with a zing.  If you would rather not tamper with your grandma's faithful sugar cookie recipe, however, you can add flavors to your cookies by adding flavor to your cookie icing.  When you mix your icing, try a dash of lemon or lime juice for zing.  Try peppermint flavor in your icing during the Christmas holiday season.  There a so many ways to customize your own sugar cookie recipe to make it extra special...it just takes a little imagination!
